VANCOUVER, WA – July 21, 2025 – McKinley Irvin is pleased to welcome Lawrence S. Merrifield, Jr. to the firm as a Senior Attorney in the Vancouver office.
Larry Merrifield brings more than 20 years of legal experience to McKinley Irvin, where he will focus exclusively on family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, legal separation, LGBTQ+ family law, relocation, and matters involving unmarried couples.
Known for his calm and direct communication style as well as his compassionate approach, Larry has helped hundreds of clients navigate difficult legal transitions. He provides practical advice, clearly explains the legal process, and works to ensure his clients are informed and confident every step of the way.
Before focusing on family law, Larry served as Director of Litigation at Epiq Corporation and successfully argued before the Washington State Supreme Court in Aitchison v. Great Western Malting, 161 Wn.2d 372 (2007). He has also been trained and appointed as a Guardian ad Litem to advocate for children's best interests in family law cases across Southwest and Eastern Washington.

Larry received his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law and a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Oregon. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the Clark County Bar Association.
Outside of work, Larry is a competitive runner and youth cross-country coach. He lives with his wife, two children, and rescue dog in Southwest Washington.
