Tristen Key Counsel

Before she ever stepped into a courtroom, Tristen Key spent a decade helping people navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. As a social worker serving individuals and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault, she learned that every situation has a story beneath the surface. Today, that same curiosity, empathy, and instinct for understanding people shape the way she practices family law.

For more than 20 years, Tristen has represented clients throughout Snohomish County and the surrounding communities in divorce, child custody, parenting plan, domestic violence, and other complex family law matters. She is known for seeing cases from every angle, anticipating opposing strategies before they unfold, and developing thoughtful legal approaches that keep her clients one step ahead.

"One of the things I enjoy most about family law is figuring out what really drives a case. Once you understand the people involved, you can often anticipate the next move before it happens."

Tristen believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach to family law. Every client arrives with different priorities, relationships, and goals, so every legal strategy should be just as individualized. Whether negotiating a settlement or preparing for hearings, she works closely with clients to build a plan that reflects what matters most to them.

Clients appreciate Tristen's straightforward communication, meticulous preparation, and ability to explain complex legal issues in plain language. She believes confidence comes from understanding the process, so she keeps clients informed, answers questions candidly, and ensures they know what to expect every step of the way.

"People aren't looking for someone to simply process paperwork. They're trusting you with their family and their future. That's a responsibility I never lose sight of."

Outside the office, Tristen enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter, spending time at the lake, and relaxing with her two dogs, Alice and Maizy Mae.
