Humberto Quintanar believes a family law attorney’s role is to listen carefully, speak candidly, and approach each case with empathy and a strong sense of responsibility for the trust his clients place in him.
Humberto’s path to family law was shaped in part by his own experiences growing up in a family that faced its share of challenges. He observed how access to legal knowledge can positively impact families in tough situations.
“Everybody’s story matters,” Humberto says. “I want my clients to feel heard, and to know that their circumstances and emotions are being taken seriously.”
As a former prosecutor and civil trial attorney, Humberto has extensive litigation experience and a strong courtroom presence in family law. He handles cases including divorce, custody, child support, modifications, domestic violence, and high-conflict disputes, with particular care for cases involving children, always keeping their well-being at the center.
Although Humberto is an experienced litigator who is comfortable in the courtroom, he does not view litigation as the goal.
My first instinct is to ask, ‘How can we settle this? How can we come to an agreement?’ But when an agreement isn’t possible, I’m here for my clients, and I’m prepared to fight for them.”
Humberto is particularly attuned to the nuanced forms of conflict that can arise in family law cases. He approaches these situations with empathy and candor, listening to clients without judgment while helping them distinguish what they feel from what will ultimately serve their legal and personal interests.
“The most important advice an attorney can offer isn’t always what a client expects to hear. I’m big on being truthful,” he says. “My role is to provide the advice you need that will help you move forward.”
Humberto, a Spanish-speaking attorney, values helping clients who face barriers in the legal system. He extends his commitment beyond his practice by serving on the Executive Board of the Loren Miller Bar Association, a community that continues to play an important part in his professional journey.
Outside of work, Humberto spends time with his partner and their two sons, who share his love of sports. He coaches youth baseball and spends plenty of time cheering his sons on at baseball games and golf tournaments. The family also includes two Australian Shepherds, Penny and Kobe, and their cat, Kenji.
