From the start of her legal career, Maria Gage has been drawn to the human side of the law, where compassion, clarity, and strong advocacy come together. Her path to family law began in law school when she served as a Rule 9 intern for the Department of Social and Health Services, litigating child dependency cases involving abuse, neglect, and complex family dynamics.
“It was incredibly meaningful work,” Maria recalls. “I was deeply inspired by the strength clients were able to summon when they felt truly supported during one of the most difficult chapters of their life.”
Today, Maria focuses her practice on family law because it allows her to make a direct and lasting impact. She represents clients in divorce, child custody, domestic violence, and complex property matters, approaching each case with empathy, resolve, and clear communication.
“It’s an honor to guide people through something as important as their children’s future or their financial security. My goal is always to help clients feel represented, empowered, and informed.”
Maria is especially passionate about helping survivors of domestic violence and finds great meaning in standing up for those who may feel unheard or overwhelmed.
“When a client says, ‘Thank you for fighting so hard for me and my children,’ it stays with me. It’s the kind of moment you keep in your back pocket for the more emotionally challenging days.”
Whether she’s negotiating complex financial matters, guiding clients through mediation, or advocating in court, Maria is a steady presence and a strong voice. She strives to simplify the legal process so clients can make confident decisions about their future. One former client said it best: “Thank you for being in the trenches with me.” For Maria, that was the highest compliment.
Outside the office, Maria enjoys spending time with her husband, their two cats Jack and Lenny, and their extended network of family and friends. A longtime patron of the arts, she holds season tickets to Village Theatre in Issaquah and never misses a good play, musical, or movie. She and her husband are also enthusiastic UW Husky football season ticket holders.
