Family Law Appeals
Sometimes a trial court does not produce a just, fair or equitable result for one or even both parties in a family law dispute. In some cases, a party may have the basis for an appeal. When making such an appeal, often a party will retain an appeals lawyer. Since so many variables affect the outcome of a trial, the appellate process may be the best way for people to receive a just ruling in their case. For example, sometimes an issue decided by a trial court is relatively new or unique, and it may be necessary for an appellate court to make the decision, particularly when the decision is one that would set new precedent or change old precedent. An appeals attorney can help navigate this complex family law process. When considering a Washington state appeals attorney, a Seattle appeals attorney, a Bellevue appeals attorney, or a Washington State appeals attorney, the ability to navigate complexity and to demonstrate experience in the court of appeals is of vital importance.
Seattle Washington Appeals
The State of Washington has two levels of appeals after a trial court ruling: the Washington State Court of Appeals, and the Washington State Supreme Court. All parties after a trial court are entitled to one appeal to the Court of Appeals. However, an appeal to the Washington State Supreme Court is solely at the discretion of that court and depends upon the significance of a legal issue to the law of Washington State.
The Seattle appeals court is the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division One, located in downtown Seattle. This Seattle appeals court hears cases from Seattle family law trials in King County. The Seattle appeals court hears family law as well as other kinds of cases for all of King County.
