About Hillary Roberts-Griffith

Hillary Roberts Steps up to Help Survivors of Domestic Violence During COVID-19

Hillary Roberts, a Seattle University School of Law alumna, is volunteering as a mentor attorney for the school’s virtual pop-up legal clinic during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Volunteer law students will serve as legal interns, helping victims fill out and file emergency DVPO petitions online. However, the students are not able to give legal advice, so attorneys are needed to be on call should legal questions arise. Hillary has been instrumental in recruiting fellow family law attorneys to volunteer, including MI’s own Brian Edwards and Tarik Polovina.

Roberts began her legal career as a mentee attorney through the King County Bar Association Family Law Mentor Program, serving low-income clients dealing with DV issues. Now a seasoned family law attorney, Hillary looks forward to mentoring the next generation of attorneys as they learn how to make a meaningful difference in the lives of survivors. Hillary explains in Seattle University’s press release:

"This is a pleadings-driven state. So much of what we do in the realm of domestic violence and family law hinges on what we write and submit before we ever step foot in court. It's absolutely essential that students learn to listen to the client, learn their stories, and then practice translating the facts in a format the court can understand. Learning to listen and write effectively are foundational skills that will serve these students (and their future clients) exceptionally well in the future."

Since 2017, Hillary has volunteered her time to the King County Bar Association’s Volunteer Legal Clinics which service survivors of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. She is also a spokesperson for King County Sexual Assault Resource Center, an organization that provides support resources to victims of sexual assault.

We are proud to have Hillary on the McKinley Irvin team and commend her for her dedication to serving others. See Hillary’s attorney profile here.
