Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements
When: 12-Jul-2016 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Where: 1501 Fourth Avenue, Seattle WA 3rd floor Alki Conference Room
What:
In Washington, there is no specific statute that governs prenuptial agreements.
Unlike other states, Washington has not adopted the Uniform Premarital
Agreement Act. Rather, guidance and authority with respect to prenuptial
agreements can be found in relevant case law. This session will discuss
why it is necessary to execute a prenuptial agreement; how to determine
the validity of a prenuptial agreement; the factors affecting unenforceability
of a prenuptial agreement and the importance of contemplating divorce
or death in a prenuptial agreement. You will also be provided sample clauses
relating to prenuptial agreements.
