Complex Jurisdictional Issues in Family Law Matters

Complex jurisdictional issues in family law matters are becoming more and
more common these days. Ms. Turtle will focus on the Uniform Child Custody
Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) as it relates to child custody
determinations. The presentation will include an overview of the UCCJEA
and outline the scenarios in which a Washington court may exercise jurisdiction
in a custody action pursuant to the UCCJEA.

Hillary Turtle is an associate attorney at S.L. Pitts, PC. Hillary joined
the firm in 2012, and she focuses primarily on complex family law matters,
including cases that involve complex jurisdictional issues (both domestic
and international). Hillary graduated cum laude from Seattle University
School of Law in 2012, and she received a B.A. from Dartmouth College in 2005.
