Those who work with Shayla McKee, clients and colleagues alike, are consistently
impressed by the drive and compassion she shows in her practice of family law.
Shayla started down her path into family law in the WSU Mock Trial Team
during her last year in college, where she won an award in every competition
she attended, including an All-Region Attorney award that set her apart
as one of the best student attorneys in the Northwest. Shayla then headed
across the country to the Northeast, where she completed law school and
clerked for the lead matrimonial judge in Essex County, NJ.
Shayla returned to Washington State to dedicate her practice to family
law, an area of law she believes can have a positive impact on people’s lives.
“So many areas of law are driven by profit, not people. I want to
make a difference for those who are often going through the most trying
time of their lives,” says Shayla. “My clients are dealing
with a lot of stress. I can help mitigate those worries and, ultimately,
achieve an outcome that allows them to move forward in a positive way.”
Before each case, Shayla first works with her clients on the big picture
– understanding the situation completely to see the final results
they wish to achieve. Then she begins the meticulous strategy and work
necessary to meet those goals.
Shayla works in our Everett office and focuses her practice on divorce
and custody cases, as well as child support and parenting plan modifications.
She also has a special interest in cases involving domestic violence,
LGBT issues, and cases involving adoption and assisted reproduction. She
is committed to serving her community and promoting equity in the practice
of family law.
Outside of work, Shayla is a self-professed bookworm who loves nothing
more than curling up with a good book and a cup of tea. She is also an avid
Game of Thrones fan, and can tell you just about everything there is to know about the
world of Westeros. She also speaks fluent French.
